Sales Department – Getting People Involved

Peter Smith

Peter Smith works in both the Sales and Journalism departments at the Journal. He covers news events in the communities of the Upper Pontiac and into Renfrew County; he also helps his business clients increase their sales with the many promotional campaigns in the newspaper. In 2003, Peter received the Joan Durnam Outstanding Salesperson Award from the Quebec Community Newspapers Association, as well as an award for the Best Special Section on Dr. Wilbert Keon’s retirement. In 2004, he won the Best Special Section award, again, for his salute to Pontiac’s well known Fred Meilleur, from Chapeau, when he was celebrating the 50th anniversary of his iconic Chapeau Hotel.

Peter began working at the Pontiac Journal in 1988; he is active in his community and often volunteers at the events he covers.

Peter says he enjoys working at the Journal because he gets to meet so many different people; he’s rarely seen without a camera in hand. He knows his community well and enjoys being out there to ensure all the different events get showcased in the newspaper. He especially likes to see youth making a difference by their actions as employees and volunteers. “They are our future,” he says.

Peter is available by phone at 819-689-2505 or 819-683-3582. He can also be reached by email at peter.smith@xplornet.ca or on facebook.

Dana Bertrand - Secretary, Accounts Receivable, circulation manager, sales rep for Mansfield and area, classified department.

Dana Bertrand has been with the Pontiac Journal since 1995. She grew up in Fort Coulonge and was raised in a business oriented family where she learned to deal with the public from a young age.

Dana has many important roles with the newspaper: she is the first voice you will hear when you call for general information and the first face you will see when you drop into the office during regular business hours. Aside from these front line duties Dana is in charge of accounts receivable, classified ads and circulation records. She also works as a sales consultant for Shawville, Bristol, Quyon, and Renfrew businesses. It’s no wonder she says: “I enjoy working and serving the public. One of my strengths is the ability to multi-task and I like to keep busy at all times.”

You can contact Dana at any time about advertising in the newspaper or in our annual projects: the Télé Pontiac Big Print phone book or West Quebec Cottage Living magazine. She can be reached at notice@journalpontiac.com.
