While a Quebec court decision has given the MRC Pontiac a few weeks reprieve in its battle to keep the train tracks that start (or end) in Litchfield, no worries – some of our mayors, MRC and agency employees, municipal lawyers, and a few dedicated citizens are strategizing new tactics to re-launch their assault against Canadian National Railway Company. read more »

Last week’s installation of a cell phone tower on Télébec property in downtown Shawville caused quite a stir. Did they have town council’s permission? Was public notice given? What an eyesore! Did the CRTC call for public comments? So ran the gossip. read more »

The Journal staff returned to work last week after our annual two weeks shutdown of production. While a few of us were on call to cover events during this time, a big ‘thank you’ goes out to the public for filling in some of the gaps. read more »

Since February of this year, every issue of the Journal has published something on the topic of the MRC Pontiac’s study on the possibility of amalgamating some of its municipalities. Whether in the countless articles, letters to the editors, advertisements, and editorials, no other single topic in the Journal’s history has occupied as much newsprint space. read more »
