In 2006, Tarana Burke founded the MeToo movement to help survivors of sexual violence heal, particularly young women of color from low wealth communities. Using the idea of “empowerment through empathy,” the MeToo movement was to ensure survivors know they are not alone. read more »

With Christmas less than a week away, the Journal will be taking a short break before returning to your mailboxes again in mid-January. I will be taking a longer pause and will return later in the New Year, given that my family's biggest Christmas surprise is due to arrive Christmas Eve – although whether they choose to arrive slightly early or late is also still a mystery. read more »
