The Draveurs, a first-time team made up of children who have skated together for 3 years, finished second out of 7 teams competing in the Ontario league where they won an Arnprior tournament, March 10 (photo). These 6 to 7 year old hockey players have kept the Fort-Coulonge / Mansfield arena filled all season, averaging over 150 fans each game. read more »

SHAWVILLE – You know you’ve made an impression when you get a mention by Rick Mercer on CBC television. According to James Sally that happened for the Flying Elbows Tournament a few years ago as another puck dropped on March 21 for the 14th edition of the Flying Elbows at the Shawville arena. FORT-COULONGE – On March 12, the Filles d’Isabelle, chapter 1293, presented its 3rd annual fashion show at the St-Pierre Parish Hall to a sold out crowd of 200 women. Mona Davis emceed most of the event that featured 27 women between the ages of 15 and 74 years old modelling a total of 44 changes of spring fashions from the Shawville / Clarendon stores of Boutique Gwendoline, Shawville Shoe, and Giant Tiger, as well as the Pembroke Mall stores of Ricki’s, Pennington’s, and Alia. read more »
