BRISTOL – Sliding, skating, sleigh rides (photo), skiing, snowshoeing, snow cones and mini-putt were all offered at Pine Lodge’s first annual Winter Fun Day, February 1, with about 200 people enjoying the activities. “The temperature was perfect today and we are really pleased with the number of families who have come out,” said organizer Jodi Thompson. “It’s a good feeling to start a new annual tradition!”
“If it had been as cold as last Monday we probably wouldn’t be here,” said one participant, “but this weather is great!”
Participants were asked to sign up on registration sheets as the activities were part of the Kino Québec campaign, “Plaisirs d’hiver,” aimed at getting families outdoors and active in the winter months. In 2013, over one thousand events were organized across the province. Organizers have a chance to win multiple pairs of snowshoes that can then be made available to the public for more winter fun.
