Appeal to save rails rejected by the Court

May 2, 2014 – The MRC Pontiac, who had turned to the Court of Appeal to save its rail network, did not succeed with their case when the Court refused to hear the dispute between them and the Canadian National Railway (CN). CN will therefore proceed to dismantle the railway line   connecting the Pontiac’s municipalities with Ottawa.

CN will therefore proceed to dismantle the railway line   connecting the Pontiac’s municipalities with Ottawa.
 According to MRC Pontiac warden, Raymond Durocher, the MRC must take some time to analyze the court judgement before obtaining further legal advice to develop a new plan to try to save the infrastructure it considers essential to    the economic development of the region, including the industrial park in        Portage-du-Fort.
