Attention Pontiac businesses: the MRC wants to hear from you!

MRC PONTIAC – The MRC Pontiac launched a survey on November 16 in order to allow the MRC’s economic development department to better understand the reality of businesses and entrepreneurs. The survey will run until December 15 and results will be used to structure a new service offered
to businesses, Accès Entreprise Québec, as well as to define the Pontiac’s Signature Innovation, which will focus on strengthening the region’s entrepreneurial community.
“The survey includes questions to better understand the context of the business, the entrepreneur and his or her experiences, their short and medium-term projects, as well as their needs and constraints related to these projects and human resources. It also allows us to understand
the entrepreneurs’ perception of the current efforts related to the attractiveness of the region,” said the MRC’s notice.
To encourage people to participate, the MRC is offering a prize pack of radio advertising with 101.9 CHIP FM, valued at $500, to be drawn from those who complete the survey. Responses are confidential and will not be shared outside of planning.
What’s Accès Entreprise?
In November 2020, the provincial government created the Accès entreprise Québec network to strengthen support for entrepreneurs and businesses and accelerate economic development in each of Québec’s regions.
To this end, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation (MEI) announced $97.5 million over five years. Of this amount, $90 million will be used to add resources in the province’s MRCs and $7.5 million will be
earmarked for training, to develop intervention tools, networking and the synergy of interventions between regions.
In the Outaouais, the MRCs of Collines-de-l’Outaouais, Papineau, Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, Pontiac and the City of Gatineau will each receive $900,000 over five years to improve and harmonize their services to ensure a “renewed and updated approach to entrepreneurship.”
Accès entreprise Québec will be the gateway for businesses to access services and organizations dedicated to entrepreneurs. The Québec government wants to ensure businesses have access to high-quality coaching, growth capital and investment services that are comparable from one region to another and that respect regional specifics. Its goal is to increase the number of successful businesses and promote the role of each MRC through a complementary approach to business coaching and financing with Investissement Québec at the regional, national and international levels.
What’s Signature Innovation?
Signature Innovation is Component 3 of the provincial Regions and Rurality Fund (Fonds régions et ruralité – FRR), in effect since April 1, 2020. It aims to encourage MRCs to identify a niche and implement a major project in this regard. This component aims to put in place “a concrete and innovative project, or a set of projects with a common thread to enable the MRC to develop or acquire a strong territorial identity based on its development vision,” says the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
