I have been a citizen of the Pontiac for over 40 years. I have read that
you may intend to open the PPJ cycling trail to ATVs. I must tell you, as part owner of a campground established on both sides of the trail at km 62, such an endeavor would certainly cause the death of at least a child in that section.
Kids of all ages, but especially young
children, cross the cycling trail in that area all the time from the months of May to October. Kids do not look to see if something is coming when crossing a trail, running after their friends.
As well, the noise this new situation would cause would be harmful to the
cottagers, residents, and vacationers all along the trail. I am quite sure a good
number of them would want to rebel against the change in various ways, as has occurred in other parts of Québec.
Some have mentioned there are other areas ATVs could use and I agree fully with that option.
