Breach in confidentiality

Recently, my family had their medical information (the result of a COVID test) shared with the public. That information is meant to stay within the healthcare system. When you put your trust in doctors, nurses, secretaries and find out confidential information was shared with others, it makes you wonder if the trust should be there.

Recently, my family had their medical information (the result of a COVID test) shared with the public. That information is meant to stay within the healthcare system. When you put your trust in doctors, nurses, secretaries and find out confidential information was shared with others, it makes you wonder if the trust should be there. I’m not looking at naming names to hurt anybody or get them in trouble, I just think it’s time to shed some light on the situation going on in our healthcare facilities.
In our case, the test occurred on a Sunday afternoon and people outside the healthcare field were contacting us about the result Tuesday morning before we had time to talk amongst ourselves. I’m sure we are not the only ones where this kind of situation has happened.
I know we live in a small community and word travels fast, but there has to be a line that shouldn’t be crossed. We’re going through a hard time already with this
pandemic and shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of breach of confidentiality, or answering questions because everyone is messaging you before you even have time to figure things out.
