WOMEN OF FAITH CELEBRATE DECADES OF SERVICE The parishes of Central Pontiac came together April 22 at Immaculate Conception Church in Bryson for a display of faith and community, as the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of Canada honoured long-serving members during a service award ceremony.

The CWL is a national organization of Catholic women dedicated to faith, service, and advocacy, supporting parish life and community initiatives across Canada. Locally, members contribute through volunteer work, charitable outreach, and spiritual development rooted in Catholic values.

Presided over by Spiritual Advisor Fr. Michael Goring, the ceremony followed the homily and centred on gratitude and service. In his opening prayer, he reflected on the gifts shared among members and their commitment to supporting one another.

The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of service pins recognizing decades of dedication. Ste-Anne’s CWL President Joan Derouin acknowledged women whose contributions span generations, including Jeanne Haley for 60 years of service and Janet Dumouchel for 50 years. Other honourees included Joanne Ralston (40 years); Diane Dillon and Connie St-Pierre (25 years); and Irene Gratton and Lucy Imbleau (10 years). New members Evelyne Chevalier and Adrienne Turgeon were also welcomed.

Representatives from multiple parishes gathered for the occasion, including St. James president Leora Venne. The ceremony closed with a collective prayer and blessing, as members responded in unison, “O God, empower us,” reaffirming their shared mission.
