I was very surprised to see a letter written by Joan Belsher, titled “Politicians on a power trip?,” favouring André Fortin to replace Charlotte L’Écuyer as the Pontiac deputy published in this newspaper. He may be from Quyon, but that doesn’t automatically make him material to represent all of Pontiac and Aylmer at the Quebec City legislature.

I urge all party members, and even those who do not hold membership cards, to find out as much about both candidates as possible. The other gentleman who is seeking to represent Pontiac is named Claude Poirier. He actually worked as L’Écuyer’s political attaché for years. I read in the Pontiac Journal recently that he is an accomplished entrepreneur and, at his age, has proven himself on the     battlefield.
While I am glad there are two candidates with solid support behind them, please, fellow residents, take a moment to think about who we are electing! (Liberals can vote on October 27).
