DUMOINE RIVER IMAGES EARN MONTREAL SPOTLIGHT – Shawville photographer Jennifer Haughton was honoured when the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) invited her to include eight of her images in a group exhibit showcasing the biodiversity of the Dumoine River. She and her family made a day trip to Montreal, where the exhibit is on display at the Atwater Library. One of her aerial photos also appears on the exhibit poster.

All the featured photos were taken during CPAWS’ DRAW (Dumoine River Art for Wilderness) retreats in 2024 and 2025. This year’s retreat was particularly exciting for Haughton, who invested in a drone in early 2025. “There was a lot of excitement about the aerial photos I got of the Dumoine landscape, including Grande Chute,” she said. Her work also includes a video featured on the Friends of Dumoine’s website. The exhibition will be showing at the library until early spring.

Passionate about nature, Haughton holds an Honours Bachelor of Science and an Environmental Technician diploma. She also volunteers with the Ottawa Riverkeeper and Nature Conservancy of Canada on citizen science projects and stewardship initiatives. – Deborah Powell
