PORTAGE-DU-FORT, BRYSON, L’ISLE-AUX-ALLUMETTES & MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – With winter on the horizon, road work is being done in several municipalities, including the much anticipated repair of the Eardley/Masham Road in the Municipality of Pontiac following a major washout in April.
Work began, between Bradley and Sincennes Roads, on September 12. “Several major repairs are being carried out, including the replacement of two culverts and partial reconstructions of the road in various locations” said Rosalie Faubert, Ministry of Transport Communications Agent.
“The Ministry is making every effort to [reopen] the road as quickly as possible this fall,” she added, noting the expected completion could vary due to climatic conditions or operational constraints.
In Bryson, Rue Principale is closed between Cobb and Elgin Roads until September 30 for public service work. Detours are in place using Cobb, Clarendon and Elgin roads.
In Portage-du-Fort, Route 303 (rue de l’Église) between Purvis and Main is closed in the west direction and the east direction lane is reduced to 3.2 m until October 20 for water line work. Detours are in place using Main, Mill, Bittern and Purvis roads.
The work to replace three culverts on Pembroke Road in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes is complete, however, repaving has been postponed for two or three weeks because the paving company, Eurovia Québec Construction Inc., has experienced equipment failures. The paving work is expected to only take one day. Signs have been installed and levelling work done on the unpaved section, but drivers are asked to be cautious in those areas.
