MRC PONTIAC – Several volunteers dressed in warm winter attire and florescent vests stood at four intersections across the Pontiac from 6 to 9 am to collect food, toys and monetary donations for Bouffe Pontiac’s annual Christmas food drive, December 8.
There was $9,197 and 475 kilograms of food collected, which will be used to create 200 food baskets that will be distributed to needy Pontiac families this holiday season. Donations were collected in Campbell’s Bay at the intersection of Hwy 148 & Hwy 301 North; in Shawville at the intersections of Main & Centre and the intersection of Main & Clarendon; and in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes at the intersection of Hwy 148 and Pembroke Road.
Last year’s food drive collected $8,003 and 516 kilograms of food. This year marks the ninth edition of the food drive, which began in 2008.
