L’ISLE-AUX-ALLUMETTES – The municipality, in conjunction with the Chapeau Recreation Association, Chapeau and District Lions Club, Pontiac Ouest and Pontiac MNA Andre Fortin, hosted the second annual Festival Chapeau, August 27.
Many local businesses and organizations contributed funds to offset the cost of the event’s activities, which included the Lions Club duck race, a Pontiac Farmer’s Market, a parade, a rib fest dinner that served over 120 people, a street dance, live entertainment, and more. Children were entertained with pony rides and a petting zoo.
Cyclists participated in a bike tour of the municipality in the morning and everyone was invited to visit the Chapeau Regional Gallery to view the art on display as well as the building’s themed rooms. Tours of St. Alphonsus Church were also offered.
Hotdogs and hamburgers were served by volunteers during the afternoon and the municipality distributed welcome packages to anyone considering settling in the region. The Tourism Committee also had historical books for sale.
The evening street dance concluded the festivities.
