FISH FOR FOOD TOURNAMENT REELS IN COMMUNITY SUPPORT — The Otter Lake Native Alliance hosted its second annual Bass Classic Fish for Food Tournament Feb. 21 at Farm Lake and the Raymond Johnston Centre, drawing anglers of all ages for a day of friendly competition and community spirit. Volunteers served about 100 people at a pancake-and-sausage breakfast before fishing huts dotted the lake under sunny skies.
Stefan Kirkpatrick and Gabriel Beck tied for men’s first place with 15¾-inch bass, while Kassandra Fleury and April Keller shared top honours in the women’s category with 15½-inch catches. Brandon Boyer won the children’s division with a 15¼-inch bass, and Fred St. Aubin took the smallest-fish prize at 12 inches.
A total of 198 participants registered, with 20 fish entered. The $20 entry fee included a spaghetti supper, dessert and raffle prizes. The day also featured a darts tournament and concluded with karaoke.
The annual food drive for Bouffe Pontiac remained a highlight, with overflowing donation bins. The Otter Lake Fire Department presented $300 and the event’s kitchen staff donated $98.50 in tips.
