Higher taxes do not bring jobs

Where were our politicians when the pulp mill was dismantled? Who can explain the millions of dollars in grant money that ran out on the many start-up projects that mostly only created temporary jobs? Bureaucrats and some politicians seem more interested in photo-ops rather than bringing a permanent solution to the dire situation we find ourselves in here.

Highway 148, “the gateway to the Pontiac”, should have been completed to 4-lanes by now making the commute safer and easier for our youth who have no choice but to travel to the city for employment as do our seniors for health care not available in the Pontiac. A better road is also needed to bring in tourism. We could be a thriving part of the province with our many lakes and natural beauty which would help create permanent jobs here.
The local decision-makers did not lobby the provincial and federal governments hard enough on behalf of the taxpayers. The excessive tax burden placed on us by the MRC Pontiac should have shown better results. We must elect people who will be held accountable to the taxpayers and stand up for a better future for the Pontiac.
