The Highway of Death is not here

Thank you to Dave McColl for pointing out that as dangerous as Highway 148 is, it is so largely because of the drivers. That would be us all! I drive the route three times a week for work, and know it well, or so I think.

However, among the cautions are the drivers who seem terrified and drive well under the speed limit, especially when there’s any weather happening. Driving slower is usually better, but driving          so slowly that you actually cause           frustrations and accidents is not.
And McColl calling it the “Highway of Death” just adds to this fear in these timid drivers. It is a well designed        highway, the surface is generally pretty good, there are plenty of straight stretches for passing, and few dangerous curves or hills – compared to the highway to Low and Gracefield. There’s a highway of death and destruction!
Mr McColl has reason for his concern, since he lost his son to Highway 148, but making fearful drivers even more timid and flighty doesn’t help anyone.
