I nearly threw the last Pontiac Journal in the burn pile after looking at the front page. I look forward to this great local newspaper but was very disappointed with this picture.
I nearly threw the last Pontiac Journal in the burn pile after looking at the front page. I look forward to this great local newspaper but was very disappointed with this picture. Not only does it promote drinking, which I realise is a big part of socializing in the region, but the profane shirt worn by one of the women and one of the other shirts is not much better; I didn’t want this to be lying around our house for the younger kids to see.
The older kids and parents had a discussion, and even though this was ‘front page news’, it was not appropriate or something that needs to be promoted. We work hard with our children and other young people to teach them that you can have fun without alcohol and that profanity is not something that shows the best in a person and it should be avoided since it garners more respect in the long run. We have a responsibility to set an example to others about positive and healthy living. There is so much good that goes on in the region, let’s not promote the lowest forms of entertainment and communication as front page news.
Signed a concerned resident of the Pontiac who often questions whether or not to encourage kids to stay in the region as they get older.
