Independent Investigation Bureau investigates – Pontiac woman seriously injured

MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – Eight investigators from the Independent Investigation Bureau (IIB) are investigating the circumstances surrounding an event that occurred in Pontiac on June 18, when a 51-year-old woman was seriously injured during a police intervention by the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Public Security Service.

MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – Eight investigators from the Independent Investigation Bureau (IIB) are investigating the circumstances surrounding an event that occurred in Pontiac on June 18, when a 51-year-old woman was seriously injured during a police intervention by the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Public Security Service.
According to preliminary information received by the IIB, at about 1:38 p.m., a call was made to the Public Security Department of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais concerning a woman who was intoxicated and had made suicidal comments. Police officers arrived at the scene, set up a security perimeter, and tried to negotiate with the woman. They reportedly entered the residence around 3:40 p. m. and found the civilian unconscious. She was taken to hospital in very serious condition, with police fearing for her life.
The investigation will determine whether this information is accurate.  No other details are currently available and police are unable to comment.
As of press time, the victim was still hospitalized, but was stable and her
condition was no longer considered life-threatening.
