Sphinx Resources Ltd., the mining company exploring for zinc in Ile-
du-Grand-Calumet, announced the appointment of Jeremie (Jerry) Ryan as Vice President, Corporate Development on November 23. Ryan’s principal mandate will be to support the corporation’s growth and assist with community relations in the MRC Pontiac.
Prior to his appointment, Ryan, a Mansfield resident and former local business owner, was both a shareholder of Sphinx and involved in their public relations since 2014. According to Ryan, his duties will remain essentially the same, but will involve a lot more travelling to meet with other mining companies and potential investors. “My appointment shows the confidence the company has in the Calumet project,” he said.
Throughout his career, Ryan has worked locally in the forest industry in a variety of roles, including union representative. He has been involved with several non-profit organizations and worked in the financial sector.
“Mr. Ryan has been a key supporter in developing strong relationships with the local community. He was instrumental in developing a shareholding in the corporation of close to 20% held by people based in the Pontiac and southwestern Québec,” said Normand Champigny, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sphinx.

Work progress and future drilling

Channel sampling from 13 new trenches completed this fall on the Calumet-Sud project showed up to 21.2% zinc concentration. Since the discovery of zinc mineralization at surface in 2014, exploration work, including diamond drilling (24 holes totalling 1525 m), revealed the presence of at least two zinc-bearing horizons. A new diamond drilling campaign, of a minimum of 2000 m, is scheduled before the end of 2018.
The Calumet-Sud project is adjacent to the former Calumet Mine that produced 3.8 million metric tonnes of ore (5.8% Zn) from 1944 to 1968.
