Journal’s editorial pages, community pages win judges’ nod 20 award nominations for local papers

its provincial Better Newspaper Awards, March 20, with multiple nominations for the Pontiac Journal and sister papers, the Bulletin d’Aylmer, and West Quebec Post.

The Quebec Community Newspapers Association (QCNA) released the shortlist for
its provincial Better Newspaper Awards, March 20, with multiple nominations for the Pontiac Journal and sister papers, the Bulletin d’Aylmer, and West Quebec Post.
The Pontiac Journal won nominations in the Best Editorial Page category, as well as Best Community Newspaper Promotion.  The Bulletin d’Aylmer received its first-ever nomination for Best Overall Newspaper in Quebec, and garnered nominations for its editorial page, special sections, advertising, and website.
The work of individual journalists at the Journal, Bulletin and West Quebec Post were also recognized. The Journal’s editor Allyson Beauregard won a nomination for Best Editorial, general topic,
and Laurent Robillard-Cardinal received three nominations, Best Feature Series, Best Agricultural Story and Best French-language News Story; Lily Ryan, co-publisher and editor of the Bulletin and Post, was nominated for Best Editorial, local affairs.
The Journal swept the Best French-language editorial category — Dominique Bomans and François Carrier, both won nominations, and Mr Carrier won a nod
for Best French-language news story.
In the Graphic Design Excellence categories, Tania Baker, who works for all three newspapers, was nominated three times for Best Advertising Creation. The Bulletin’s  Charles Viau also received a nomination in that category.
The ranking of the three nominations in each category, and appropriate awards, will be unveiled at the Association’s gala, June 2, in the Laurentians.
