SHAWVILLE – The Pontiac Juniors finished 2013 and kicked off 2014 on a three game winning streak, beginning December 28 with a wild game against Stittsville where the team won, 9-3. “It was a big win and they played hard,” said Team President Ryan Barber. “It was a big confidence boost since Stittsville is one of the teams we are battling for the playoffs.”
A make-up game against Perth took place December 30, with the Juniors winning 7-2. The original game had been terminated following Juniors player, Brett Nugent’s, unfortunate accident earlier in the season. “The team had good chemistry. We scored seven unanswered goals,” said Barber.
Kicking off the New Year was a match against the Gatineau Mustangs, January 3. The game included plenty of penalties; “I would say that for about two thirds of the game, there was someone on the power play,” said Barber. The final score was 9-6 in favour of the Juniors. “We don’t always play pretty,” added Barber.
The games from January 10-19 put a halt to the Juniors climb in the standings with five losses. The team also played January 24 against Renfrew with a score of 7–5 for Renfrew, and January 26 against Clarence where they lost with a score of 4–3.
An Alumni night is planned January 31 where past Junior     players are invited to come out and support the   current team.
