Keeping the rail line in the Pontiac

Reading the article titled “Barriers to saving the rail,” in the December 5 issue about the meeting in Litchfield on a heritage zoning for the CN railway line in the Pontiac, I was surprised to see that CN Railway is looking for 40 million dollars for the section between Portage-du-Fort and the Nepean Junction in Ottawa.

Reading the article titled “Barriers to saving the rail,” in the December 5 issue about the meeting in Litchfield on a heritage zoning for the CN railway line in the Pontiac, I was surprised to see that CN Railway is looking for 40 million dollars for the section between Portage-du-Fort and the Nepean Junction in Ottawa. That amount of money appears to be significantly more than what CN seemed to expect for the whole line right through to Pembroke in recent times. Are the rails now plated in some precious metal?
