In the letters Hydro Quebec sent to their customers about the installation of their smart meters, as well as on their website, it says customers have 30 days from the date indicated on the letter to opt out of having the meter installed, or they must pay a one time fee of $85 instead of $15.
In the letters Hydro Quebec sent to their customers about the installation of their smart meters, as well as on their website, it says customers have 30 days from the date indicated on the letter to opt out of having the meter installed, or they must pay a one time fee of $85 instead of $15. The letters sent are all dated March 31, but residents in this area only received them in the last week of April, which means they only had three of four days to make their decisions.
Why didn’t Hydro Quebec send out their letters immediately? They had them ready! How strategic! Why doesn’t it say “30 days from the date you received the letter” instead? It’s a big money grab. As much as Hydro Quebec insists the meters won’t increase your monthly bill, people in other areas who had them installed have said their hydro bills doubled or more than doubled.
