The Pontiac Journal is once again giving Pontiac residents the opportunity to
nominate their favourite businesses, businesspeople, and community organizations to recognize them for hard work, dedication and exceptional service. What better way to highlight and reward them, and say ‘thank you’ for a job well done?

The public can nominate businesses for the seventh annual Pontiac Journal Readers’ Choice Awards by clipping out the nomination form in the Journal (see page 9) and mailing it to the Journal office. Or you can vote online at www.pontiac
journal.com; click the link in the top right corner, fill out your choices and submit.
There are 38 categories to choose from this year, ranging from the hard fought Best Poutine to Best Customer Service and Best New Business. There are quite a few new categories such as Best Pontiac Wine or Beer, Best Caesar Salad, Best Chip Stand, and more. The 2019 feature category, Best Female Entrepreneur, will recognize the female business owners who not only excel in their line of work, but do so while oftentimes juggling all the added tasks of being wives and mothers. The winners will be announced in a special section in the October 9 edition of the paper.
The Pontiac is well-known for its hard working residents and tightly knit,
supportive communities. Recognizing local organizations and entrepreneurs is
paramount for small areas. With a relatively small population, a low average income, and large commercial stores nearby, making a living and surviving here as a business is tough. It’s essential that we feature, congratulate, and reward those who are able to persevere and succeed!
Not only does it give those nominated a moment in the spotlight, it reassures
them their work has paid off and that they’re going in the right direction. Plus, it encourages them to continue. The publicity can even sometimes lead to new faces through their doors, both from near and far, after the word spreads about the good-quality, reasonably priced goods and services they offer.
Help us spread the word!
Voters also have an additional incentive for submitting nominations: money! Those who fill out at least 50% of their ballot will be entered in a draw to win a $100 Visa gift card. Now that’s time well spent! But please, don’t just vote for one business. We are able to identify when this happens and these votes aren’t counted.
The polls are open and all residents are encouraged to participate. Supporting, affirming and honouring local organizations and entrepreneurs is essential for our
community’s survival – when they succeed, we all benefit from their success!
Deadline for voting is August 23; don’t miss your chance!
