The Pontiac Journal is once again giving Pontiac residents the opportunity to
nominate their favourite businesses, businesspeople, and community organizations to recognize them for hard work, dedication and exceptional service. What better way to highlight, reward, and say ‘thank you’ for a job well done?
The public can nominate businesses for the sixth annual Pontiac Journal Readers’ Choice Awards by clipping out the nomination form in the Journal (see page 9) and mailing it to the Journal’s office.  Or you can vote on-line at www.pontiacjournal.com; click the link in the top right corner, fill our your choices and submit.
There are 38 categories to choose from this year, ranging from the hard fought Best Poutine and Best Hair Salon to Best Customer Service and Best New Business. New this year is the 2018 feature category recognizing businesses who have been contributing to and serving their community for many years: the Best Long Standing Business (15 years). The winners will be announced in a special section in the October 10 edition of the paper.
Recognizing local organizations and entrepreneurs is essential for small communities. With a relatively small population, a low average income, and large commercial stores nearby, making a living and surviving here as a business is tough. It’s essential that we highlight, congratulate, and reward those who are able to persevere and succeed!
Not only does it give those nominated a moment in the spotlight, it reassures them their work has paid off and that they’re going in the right direction. Plus, it encourages them to continue.
In highlighting these businesses and entrepreneurs, there is also the possibility they will gain new customers, from local residents who are informed of good-quality, reasonably-priced goods and services available right here and possibly from readers outside our communities. Help us spread the word!
Voters also have an additional incentive for submitting nominations: money! Those who fill out at least 50% of the ballot will be entered in a draw to win a $100 Visa gift card. Now that’s time well spent! But please, don’t try to stack votes. We are able to identify when this happens and these votes won’t be counted.
The polls are open and all residents are encouraged to participate. Supporting,
highlighting and honouring local organizations and entrepreneurs is essential for our community’s survival – when they succeed, we all benefit from their success!
Deadline for voting is August 24th; don’t miss your chance!
