SHAWVILLE – The summer day sizzle of the BBQ grill will be prominent during the downtown Street Fair, July 19 and 20. On Friday, the Pontiac Relay for Life barbeque will be an effort to reach its goal of $110,000, currently at $107,666. The Corriveau School of Dance, which took best children’s float in the 2013 Shawville Canada Day parade (photo), starts entertaining at 6pm. There is also a pajama-themed story time at the Shawville Clarendon Library at 7pm.
On Saturday, the BBQ aroma begins at 7am with the Amateur Chicken ‘n’ Rib Cook-off Competition. The Canadian Southern BBQ Association will be judging participants who will be challenged to cook six portions of baby back ribs and chicken for the grand amateur champion prize of a Weber brand Smokey Mountain BBQ.
While there are sidewalk sales both days, there are children’s activities, face painting, even an on-site lemonade stand as well as a motorcycle display on Saturday.
