Newspapers deemed an essential service

MRC PONTIAC & MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC: “The Journal du Pontiac will continue to publish during the Covid-19 crisis,” says publisher Lily Ryan. “This week’s issue has been delivered, as usual, via Canada Post, and we have added an on-line version of the entire paper, on our website, for those unable to pick up their mail.”

Newspapers have been deemed an essential service by the Quebec government; the province has published important information about COVID-19 in the Journal and more information should be coming in the April issues. “Local businesses who are allowed to remain open during the mandatory shutdown can inform their clients of their services,” said Ryan. “They may have developed new methods of delivery; possibly on-line methods of purchasing. If you have need of a special service, it is still possible to get it. It is important to get this information out to the public.”
