Do you know a business that has made a significant contribution to our community? Have you received
outstanding service? Has a new business impressed you? The Pontiac Chamber of Commerce officially launched its call for nominations for its 2015 Business Achievement Awards, June 1, to
recognize outstanding Pontiac businesses and entrepreneurs. “With the time and effort our entrepreneurs put into their businesses, this is the chance for the local population to encourage their local business owners,” said the Chamber.
Nominations will be accepted until August 31, 2015 in 10 categories: 2015 Feature Award – Heritage Trade, Business Beautification Award, Farm Enterprise Award, Human Resource Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, New Business Award, Self-Employed Business Person Award, Social Media Award, Tourism Award and Young Entrepreneur Award. “We added three new categories this year, and removed three (Small, Medium and Large
business). We felt this was more
appropriate to the awards,” said Lynda Wegner, a Chamber board member.
The nomination form includes a detailed explanation of the criteria for each category and space for the
nominator to explain why the business or entrepreneur should be honoured. A panel of judges, made of representatives from the community, will review the nominations, determine eligibility based on outlined criteria, and select a
recipient in each category.
Nomination forms can be
found on the Chamber’s website
(www.pontiacchamberofcommerce.ca) or they can be received by contacting the Chamber’s office (819-647-2312). “Anyone can nominate a business – we encourage the general public to get involved. Nominators do not have to be a Pontiac resident, but the businesses have to be located here. If people have been pleased with the service or products from a particular business, then they should be nominating them for an award,” concluded Wegner.
The Business Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s annual Awards Gala, to be held October 23 at
the Pontiac Conference Centre in
Fort-Coulonge.
