How beautifully portrayed on the front page of Pontiac Journal, May 6, 2015 – so sad! If I had ever encountered situations similar to this, I would be emotional about it, too.
But one could put this into a different perspective. Such that the action of the OLF is rather an accreditation of doing
something right for your community, as
you do on many levels. There are many expressions in a number of languages which describe this:  “the tallest in the crowd attracts attention” (Slovak) or “the
overgrown twig in a hedge gets trimmed to the rest” (Japan), and so on. . .
We should not be promoting uniformity; that is not desirable, not in our vibrant
community – leave it to the history of failed societies. Let us be the good people we are, and be proud of it. If something is not
broken, do not try to fix it by creating unnecessary burdens and problems, I say to the OLF.
Let us find a good solution in a
reasonable manner. As my father, of
shepherd’s descent, used to say: keep the wolf happy (full) and the sheep alive! (I know, clichés, but they make the point!)
