I was pleased to hear you worry about us rural people, our security, and the need to own a gun.  I have had to chase two bears from my porch in recent years. What could I have done to scare them away without my gun? The only time I have been scared of a gun was when some hunters shot two deer 400 metres away from my house.

While we are in your thoughts, I have one small question: why must our new exterior mail boxes be a serious risk to our security? We went from post office building service and clear sidewalks, to a busy corner outside with trecherous ice in the winter and dog poo in the summer. When I questioned the decision at the post office, I was offered my old inside mailbox back for $150 a year.
Come to think about it Mr. Harper, I believe my chances of falling on the ice and hurting myself are much greater than having to fight back a home invasion.
