PORTAGE-DU-FORT – Approximately 30 people attended the Annual General Meeting of the Pontiac Artists’ Association (PAA), November 30 at the Stone School Gallery.
President France Lamarche welcomed members of the Association before reading the 2016 President’s Report where she reviewed the PAA’s activities in 2016. More detailed information was heard from each of the committee’s reports which included Stone School Gallery, Pontiac Artists Studio Tour, Pontiac School of the Arts and the Artist’s Residency Project.
A new program, started this year, was the Artists’ Talks series; there were three well attended presentations given throughout the season including one by local artist Carol Bretzloff Holmes about her father, Gilbert Bretloff, and his “unofficial World War II” watercolours.
After Chris Seifried
presented the financial report, and answered questions from members
in attendance, Elaine Gaudet, a member of the PAA, but not on the board, spoke about a project called “PAA Volunteer Recognition Celebration” which will be held September 23, 2017 at the Jack Graham Centre in Bristol. “It is to honour
volunteers who are the foundation of the PAA,” she explained. Preparations have already begun.
After a rowdy applause for volunteers, nominations were held for the Board of Directors for 2017. France Lamarche, Christopher Seifried, Nicole Lavigne and Louise Guay were re-elected. Marcel Renaud is a new member on the Board. The Board thanked Glen Hartle for all his work on the board in 2016. Members mingled over coffee and snacks after the meeting.
