L’ISLE-AUX-ALLUMETTES – The Pontiac Chamber of Commerce held its annual general meeting, June 11,
at L’Ancienne Banque,
in Chapeau. Chamber President, Mireille Alary, provided an overview of the Chamber’s accomplishments over the past year, mentioned some future goals, and stressed the organization’s continuing focus of its Mentoring Cell program which pairs
businesses together to share ideas and advice.
The Chamber’s revenue decreased by about $12,000 in the last fiscal year, but expenses also drastically decreased,
leaving the organization with a $22,200 surplus.
During the elections, the following board
members were re-
elected: Mireille Alary (Executive-President), Lynda Wegner, Richard Wegner, Larry Coleman (Treasurer), Brian Wallace, Ron MacKillop, Denis LeBrun, Joanne Romain, Nancy York, and Sylvie Bertrand. The Vice-President and Secretary seats remain open until the organization’s next regular meeting towards the end of June.
The board will be
striving to improve the French language documentation for members and are currently working on planning their annual
charity golf tournament, to be held August 21 at the Pontefract Golf Club in Mansfield. Nomination forms were available for the Chamber’s upcoming Business Achievement Awards; deadline for
submissions is August 31.
