MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC – The municipality is undertaking experiments to observe the durability of the “Flex Tech” pavement product; tests will be done on areas where pavement has suffered high stress and damage. Polymers in this new treatment are said to withstand these stresses better than traditional pavement.
On Thursday, November 9, two sections of Pontiac roads received a Flex Tech treatment when a 50 mm layer was spread on Chemin des Pères Dominicains and the Steele Line. Represent-atives from La Pêche, Cantley and Kazabazua were also present to observe the process.
It is estimated that this product will save the municipality money in the long run. Dominic Labrie, Communications Director with the municipality, said: “We are constantly looking to get more value for taxpayer’s dollars. We want to evaluate the
durability of this product.
If the experiment is successful, it could be used on more roads. It is important to understand it’s not designed to replace paving; it’s a product for corrective
intervention,” he concluded.
