At the end of August, the Parti Québécois (PQ) confirmed the candidacy of Marie-Claire Nivolon for the Pontiac riding in preparation for October’s provincial election. Active in the Montréal area with the PQ since 1977, Nivolon holds a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Nantes, France. She has long been involved with the PQ as secretary of communications from 1990 until present. Previously, she was assigned to the PQ membership card between 1984 and 1990. She was also involved in various constituencies of the party in the Montréal area (Crémazie and Viau) during the 1980s.
Upon request for an interview, the PQ responded that it would be impossible for Nivolon to participate. The Pontiac riding is one of the last to be filled by the PQ.   Note: After an exhaustive search throughout the riding at the beginning of the campaign period, no posters bearing the party’s colours were found.
