The Pontiac Terry Fox organizing committee would like to thank everyone who came out on Sunday, September 16th, for the annual Run / Ride / Walk; just over 100 people participated, which was down from last year, but the amount raised for cancer research matched 2017:  around $6,000.

The Pontiac Terry Fox organizing committee would like to thank everyone who came out on Sunday, September 16th, for the annual Run / Ride / Walk; just over 100 people participated, which was down from last year, but the amount raised for cancer research matched 2017:  around $6,000.
It is our desire to continue to honour and remember Terry’s legacy.  A recent planning session for 2019 highlighted the desire to make this a “Pontiac wide” event, encouraging participation from every community; our goal is to have 200 people take part.  This means we need to find a “champion” in each community; someone who will encourage new participants.  Could you be that champion?
Likely each and every one of us has known someone who has fought through cancer, or has succumbed to this dreadful disease, as happened to Terry Fox. Let’s not let the fight that these people have gone through go unrecognized.  To quote Terry, after he had to stop his Marathon of Hope:  “It’s got to keep going without me.”
If you think you could lend a hand to keep their legacy alive, along with Terry Fox,
contact John Petty at 819 647-2402 and leave your contact info, or email him at

Save the date, everyone:  Sunday, September 15, 2019.

With gratitude,
The organizing committee
