SAQ’s current project, ‘Rediscovering and Reconnecting with our Past and Celebrating Our Seniors’ Contributions,’ recognizes and celebrates seniors who, through their volunteer efforts, are making a significant contribution to their communities.
SAQ was formed to provide a provincial voice for Quebec’s English-speaking seniors. SAQ promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for English-speaking seniors by       supporting senior leadership throughout Quebec and working with other organizations and the   government to address the challenges facing them.
Ruth Pelletier, Vice-President of SAQ, spoke about the impressive     volunteer activities of each of the three recipients. Pelletier quoted Laidlaw’s statement that she was never reluctant to volunteer when circumstances required her involvement. Laidlaw is known for her commitment in collecting       information and reporting on local political and cultural matters and for her interest in local heritage. She currently serves on the Stewardship Committee for the Breckenridge Creek Nature Preserve.
