Maurice Beauregard, mayor of Campbell’s Bay, introduced a motion at a recent Council of Mayors meeting to study the PPJ trail’s usage, particularly in the summer, to determine its financial benefits. “It’s to see if we are getting a return on our investment and if the trail’s expense is justified by the number of users,” he said.

I will attest that in the summer, pedal bikes do not use the trail and opt instead to use area roads or the highway. They give little or no support to our local economy, yet our MRC spends $250,000/year or more on maintenance. I travel these roads every day and if I counted ten pedal bikes throughout the entire summer, that would be it.
