PORTAGE-DU-FORT – Marjorie Horner of Shawville Shoes and Katharine Summerfield of Boutique Gwendoline in Shawville hosted their sixth annual Fashion show at Auberge Mont-Blanc, May 15. It was a sold out show with over 200 people attending the event to see clothing, shoes and accessories from designers such as Joseph Ribkoff, Libra, Miko, Tara Vao, Beta’s Choice, Ursula, and more. A silent auction and a draw for a quilt also took place. Proceeds from the event will be going towards the Shawville Hospital’s Operating Room i n memory of Lynn Lang who worked there, and to the Pontiac Reception Centre (CAP).
Lang was also a key player in the 2011 Spring Fashion Show hosted by the Pontiac Agricultural Society where $13,000 was raised for the dialysis project. Lang passed away December 23, 2012. “It’s a wonderful evening for women to get together for a great cause. The Pontiac, not being the richest, always gives so freely and comes together for meaningful causes,” said Helene Boulet, Vice-President for the CSSSP.
Lynn Chenier and Claudette Stanton were key contributors to the silent auction and spent countless hours preparing for the event and collecting donations. “Our hospital is so important and needed in this area. Lynn was a wonderful woman; the hospital meant so much to her so this event is fitting to be in her honour,” said Chenier.
The hors d’ouevres were donated by Joanne Dumouchel of Value Mart, music by DJ Brad Summerfield, cupcakes by Valley Mutual Insurance, coffee by Claudette Stanton, and the decorations were done by Aileen Sheppard.
A tribute was made to Richard and Manon Filion, who were recently killed in a car accident, as they contributed to the event, and those of the past.
