The Stone School Gallery in Portage-du-Fort hosted three vernissages, September 15. The lower level featured the three-woman show “a Panoramic View of Life” from the “Creative Minds Think Differently” series. Jill Alexander, working in textured acrylics, and Diana Wakely, in watercolors, provided their interpretations of the photographic works of Bonnie Zimmerling (photo top).
Upstairs, ten ArtPontiac members participated in the annual ‘Dam Art’ exhibition, this year focusing on what it means to be Canadian in honour of Canada’s 150th. Diana Wakely, Cheryl Dolan, Dale Shutt, Valerie Bridgeman, Jeanne McTiernan, Jill Alexander, Sheri Phillips, Glen Hartle, Louise Guay, and Larry Evans
participated. As a special project, Hartle cut a large wooden maple leaf into 13 pieces, which each artist interpreted using different mediums; re-assembled, the finished work is a strikingly original portrayal of our national symbols.
Also on display was “Works on Paper”, an exhibition showcasing original artworks, in a 5” x 7” format, from the 2017 PAA ‘Works on Paper Exhibition and Exchange’. Members created 11 pieces of art, 10 of which were exchanged between participants. The remaining piece is sold then to raise funds for ArtPontiac.
The exhibitions continue until October 22.
