Thank you for your excellent coverage of the latest development on the radioactive dump project in Chalk River in the November 8 edition. It’s amazing how “clean energy” has such dangerous side effects and it is good news that intermediate-level waste will not be included in the dump.

Thank you for your excellent coverage of the latest development on the radioactive dump project in Chalk River in the November 8 edition. It’s amazing how “clean energy” has such dangerous side effects and it is good news that intermediate-level waste will not be included in the dump.
But the so-called “independent risk assessment” process is seriously flawed. Any proposal to fix the serious problem of current storage of radioactive materials at the
Chalk River site needs to be founded on the assumption that there is no such thing as an acceptable level of radiation in drinking water.
I also agree with letter writer Ron Temchuk that political leadership should not be a wait and see game.
