Thorne vs. Thorne

The following is an email received from a Thorne Councillor to the TCRA:  “Once again the Thorne Community will be holding its annual Remembrance Day celebration on Nov 11th and will require the lower hall and kitchen.
We will need access to coffee/tea pots and fridges etc. It is hoped that someone will be available to lay the wreath on behalf of your organization.

I find this message insulting. The current Council has deliberately refused to pay its way, and sits in warm or cool comfort at the expense of the volunteers who raise the money to pay for the heat, air conditioning and power of the office space the municipality requested from the TCRA many years ago. They are in fact squatters. And here is a demand from a Councillor of Thorne ‘needing’ access to space and utilities they refuse to fund. TCRA has voluntarily provided space and access to this in the past when the council and TCRA were a unit for the citizens of Thorne. It would have been more proper to REQUEST the space and utilities. I, for one, will not be part of a Remembrance Ceremony where the Mayor lays a wreath – wearing blue jeans and a ball cap (as shown in social media photographs).
