Two people rescued from river

ALLUMETTES – Emergency personnel from both Ontario and Quebec were called to rescue a young man who was swimming in the Ottawa River off Morrisson Island, July 13. The youth became stranded on the rocks in the rapids and his friend on shore called police. After the person was aboard an Ontario Provincial Police boat, the boat was unable to safely remain near the swiftly flowing water long enough for the rescuing officer to get back into the boat. An OPP helicopter then rescued the officer (photo).
