Use the PPJ for annual events!

Let us dismiss the short-sighted idea of
letting ATVs use the PPJ and become constructive for its use as a wonderful bike and hike trail!

We could host a yearly PPJ Bike Festival and another PPJ Hike Festival. These sorts of events are held yearly in places like Kelowna, East Toronto, London ON, and Sannich – Vancouver Island. It could be an engine for tourist development in our area, resulting in a burgeoning of business in our communities. It would put our region on the map!
Some ideas for the Bike Festival: 1k, 5k, 10k bike races; competition for best-decorated bikes; decorated bike parade; competition for best-decorated bike helmet; a prize for the most unusual bike; bike fashion contest; moonlight rides; bike rodeo with an obstacle course; bike riding skills competition; etc.
There could also be visits to historical sites in each community and Celebration Stations where participants have passports that would be stamped over a period of, say, a month at each station. They would receive a prize when the passport is completed, and the activity would identify and develop tourist attractions in every
community.
Put the PPJ and our communities on the map with these events and bring tourist dollars into our communities as they do in other places. They will create lots of publicity in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec, and even all of Canada – or North America – or the world.
Grants may be available to pay 2 or 3 staff as a great impetus for community development all along the trail and bike companies may be interested in sponsoring the events.
