OTTER LAKE – The Otter Lake RA Hall was transformed into the
fictional Lakefront Casino, May 2, where over 200 guests attempted to solve the mystery of who killed Chuck Maverick (played by Henry St. Aubin). The Murder Mystery was
organized by the Otter Lake Golden Age Club, the RA Committee and the Fire Department to raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of the RA Hall.
Local residents acted out the old-fashioned detective story, and the audience was provided with clues to
identify the perpetrator. The police inspector
(Yvon Leblanc) and
Sheriff Laurier (Laurier Francoeur) investigated the eight main suspects present at the time of the murder: Cookie Daniels (Andrea Presley) – an actress; Brigitte Damien (Elaine Senak) – an escort madam; Zoey Zinger (Rejean Bussiere) – a washed-up comedian; Katie Morgan (Debbie Hodgins) – the casino dealer; Nick Lucopoulos (Brian Presley) – a Greek millionaire and professional gambler; Clara “Granny” Smith (Velma Lafleur) – a recent lottery winner; Dr. Julius Prescott (Shayne Presley) – a plastic surgeon; and Tony Bonello (Henry Longpre) – the casino owner. Joan Dubeau emceed the event.
After two months of planning and one month of rehearsals, the evening began with a dinner served by the Otter Lake Golden Age Club, while the bar
was tended by the RA Committee and Fire Department. The performance followed and Disco Joe finished off the night with musical entertainment.
The event was a huge hit with the audience: “What a heck of a meal, and what a heck of a good time!” said audience member, Reg Carkner.
