Why I boycott Walmart

Several months ago, I came across an article about how our court system effectively stopped Canadians from accessing lakes on crown property in British Columbia. U.S. billionaire Stan Kroenke is married to a Walmart heiress and they are blocking public access to these lakes from their property.

Furthering my irritation with big corporations, specifically Walmart, is the news that they will be transitioning
to self-check-outs, meaning the loss of minimum wage jobs.
Don’t take my word for it: research the Douglas Lake cattle ranch and see how much pollution comes from that operation and how much money they make bringing in their filthy rich friends to rape our country (hunting and fishing).
Big box stores are unfair to Canadian jobs, Canadian entrepreneurs, and do not support Canadian products, opting for cheap ‘made in China’ goods. Canadians need to stand up to job losses to technology so citizens can earn a wage, buy food, pay taxes etc. Who will pay taxes – that fund services – if robots are taking over jobs?
Please, support local Canadian stores, made in Canada products and anything else that will get and keep Canadians working! If we cannot keep folks working, who will? Companies like Walmart and Costco were open through the pandemic and made record profits. Let’s pressure them to pay it forward to their employees working hard to make them that profit, NOT the executives.
