Why local newspapers matter

I just picked up the January 14th issue of the Pontiac Journal and after reading Fred Ryan’s column, I was reminded yet
again why local newspapers matter! His
reflections on life in the Pontiac have always resonated with me; but beyond this, they always succeed in bringing the relevance of the larger community closer to our door.

I wanted to take a moment to salute you for reaching out to your readership, issue after issue, with your keen observations. Your commitment to a thoughtful analysis of local news and events is commendable!
I’m very pleased to see that Katharine Fletcher will be writing an environmental column for the Journal! I loved reading her columns in the past. I will definitely be
reading future issues of the Journal! In
addition to Fred’s editorials and columns, and Katharine’s column, I also very much appreciate Mo Laidlaw’s reports from Breckenridge.
