L’ISLE-AUX-ALLUMETTES — The 10-team Chapeau bowling league wrapped up another season April 11 at the Harrington Community Centre with a lasagna supper attended by about 70 bowlers and guests.
Team 5, captained by Gilles Chartrand, claimed first place for the season with 100 points, followed closely by Team 3, led by Josh Lepine, with 99 points. Team 1, captained by Gene O’Brien, finished third with 84 points.
Christine Turner of Team 9 led the women’s divisions, earning high single honours with a score of 336 in week 13 and finishing with the league’s top average at 179. She also placed second and third in the high triples category, with scores of 634 and 624. Keisha Godin of Team 3 recorded the top women’s triple with 677 in week 7 and placed second in average with 165, while Annie Keon finished third in average with 153.
On the men’s side, Derek Burnison of Team 4 posted the high single with 299 in week 9. Gilles Chartrand of Team 5 led the high triple category with 677 in week 4, while Chico Allard of Team 5 captured the top average with 197.
In playoff action, Team 1 won the A division title with 6,517 points, defeating Team 3, which finished runner-up with 6,498. Team 6, captained by Andrea Chartrand, won the B division with 6,425 points, while Team 4, led by Eldon Adam, placed second. Team 10 finished last with 5,839 points.
Turner also earned recognition in the league’s 300 club for her 336 game.
The Harrington Community Centre, where the bowling alley is located, operates as a non-profit organization, and is led by president David Brisard, vice-president Corey Bissonnette, treasurer Karolann Fleming and secretary Mariette Sallafranque. Community partners include the Chapeau & District Lions Club, Chapeau Recreation Association, Chapeau Agricultural Society, Chapeau Young at Heart, the municipalities of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and Chichester, and the Upper Pontiac Sports Complex.
The bowling alley is now closed until funding can be secured to repair the pinsetters.
