CATALAN BASKETRY COMES TO SHAWVILLE – Participants concentrated on choosing materials for making their Catalan soap dishes at the Connexions Resource Centre’s basketry workshop held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Shawville on November 13. Well-known local basketmaker Michael Peterson brought a variety of baskets and passed them around to participants. He spoke about his personal experiences with basketmakers in Portugal and elsewhere, and about the history of the craft, before starting participants off on weaving their soap dishes. – Deborah Powell
